ScanGauge3 Not Connecting to New Model Mercedes Sprinter? Here’s the Fix

If you’ve recently purchased a ScanGauge3 and are trying to connect it to a New Model Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, you might encounter an issue where the unit fails to connect or remains stuck on the “Connecting…” screen. Don’t worry—there’s a simple fix!

What’s the Issue?

The 2024 Sprinter uses a newer vehicle communication protocol known as WWH-OBD (World Wide Harmonised On-Board Diagnostics). If this setting isn’t enabled, your ScanGauge3 may not be able to establish communication with the vehicle.

The Solution

As of firmware v1.28, the ScanGauge3 includes an advanced setting that allows compatibility with WWH-OBD vehicles. You’ll just need to enable it manually.

 How to Enable WWH-OBD Compatibility

  1. From the Home Screen on the ScanGauge3, tap MORE > SETUP.
  2. Scroll along and select Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Look for the option labelled Compatibility and click Edit.
  4. Hit Next to and then set this WWH-OBD Compatibility to ON.
  5. Exit the menu and allow the ScanGauge3 to reconnect to your vehicle.

Once enabled, your ScanGauge3 should successfully connect to your Mercedes Sprinter.

Firmware Requirements

Make sure your ScanGauge3 is updated to firmware version 1.28 or higher. This feature is not available in earlier versions. If you're unsure of your firmware version or need help updating, please contact us.
